Ballet Recital Spring 2010

Wow, it finally came! The girls had their ballet recital tonight and it was absolutely ADORABLE! They did as well as can be expected and we just had so much fun, came home and ate Pink Pie at a ridiculous hour, and are planning to take 2 naps tomorrow! Ahhhh, so so cute. El absolutely loves the stage as much as Ka. Unfortunately, I made sure to tell her to “watch Miss Tracy!!” while she was up there (which you’ll notice she does very well to the detriment of her actual dancing). Next year I’ll make sure to say “follow Miss Tracy.” Haha. Anyway, the HUGE smile on her face as she runs to tell me after I pick her up that “Me me watch Tra-tee! I try!” So cute! She was so proud of herself. What a sweetie. Anyway, tons of pics and videos HERE! (Warning: large files page!) Enjoy!

Relay for Life!

After all the preparation and waiting, it finally came! Our family participated in the Utah County Relay for Life 2010 with lots of friends and neighbors this weekend. How did it go? Great! Sure, it rained the entire freezing cold night, but we raised over $2,600 as a team and $26,000 as a Relay to help the American Cancer Society! Woohoo! The girls absolutely loved EVERY minute of it, Kaylee walked/ran every second she could from the time she got there till she went to bed and then again as soon as she woke up again. I’m so glad we had to opportunity to do this together as a family and teach our kids about helping others going through trials we may not relate to. We had lots of meaningful conversations with Ka about cancer and its effects on people we know and love. We were out there for you Grandma Sally! We love you! HERE are pictures from the event. I was sorry not to get pictures of all our participants but the rain would not cooperate Friday night.

Poor Baby Livvy

OK, so I say Poor baby Livvy because of the excessive amounts of love she gets from our household of baby loving ladies. What a trooper! (Can you see the enthusiasm from my girls and the lack thereof from Liv?!) Taylor and Curtis came over for dinner with Liv and we had a great time. It’s so great to get together with friends and BBQ. Mmmm. Thanks for a fun night! Can’t wait till Ansley gets back to play too!

Cousins!

Sarah A. and the kids stopped by for a couple nights between doctor visits and it was so great to see cousins again! Yes, all the expected silliness ensued and they had a fabulous time. Ahhh, so cute. (Yes, Dallin was there, he just didn’t want any pictures!)

Car Seat Canopy Tutorial

OK, so for those that are interested and didn’t know, I was just called to be the 2nd counselor in our RS Presidency so I’m back to doing RS meetings! The ward already had a sewing night planned and we tweaked some things (successfully if I do say so myself!) to make it a super fun night! We had lots of ladies there wanting to learn to sew. I mean, really beginning never-used-a-sewing-machine-before ladies that made beautiful car seat canopies for their babies! The YW joined us to make their aprons for trek this month so it was fun to have them along to. Sew . . . (get it!? hehe) I adapted a tutorial for a cute but easy car seat canopy and figured I would share with anyone interested. Make your own and send me a pic! Let me know if you have any troubles downloading it and I can email it to you. :o) And that’s right, I made mine reversible, because anyone that knows me knows that I make everything reversible, aprons, nursing covers, car seat canopies, everything! I just can’t make up my mind! So, if you want that tip too, let me know!

Little funnies

Ok, so nothing huge has happened lately, but a lot of little funnies. Like watching your daughters insist on eating strawberries like Little Jack Horner. (Why is it they always do the cutest stuff when they are looking homeless!?) Or like finding the name of all the ladies in Ka’s life cutely written on my bathroom mirror (as you can see it got pretty dirty cuz I just couldn’t wash it off for a while!). Or “Look Mom! Lion eyes!” coming out of the bathroom with grins from ear to ear. Or a sock put on the outside of the girls’ door. No, I have NO idea where they have seen that before and I totally laughed all afternoon thinking . . . should I be worried? Or the little collection of drivers by my back door where the girls and Daddy go to practice in his net together. Or the pride and prizes after another successful dentist visit. Ahhh, good times. My heart is happy. :o)

Little Nurse

Going back through these pictures I can’t remember why Ka was nursing El back to health, but something had happened that had made her sad and Miss Pink went right to work. Set her up with a pillow, blanket, milk sippy, and read her book after book after book. What a great sister and friend. Ahh, I have to remember these moments. :o)

I can’t believe it! My little girl is off to kindergarten next year! Oh, the thought makes me weepy. I have always been one of those moms who can’t wait to get the kids off to school, but the older they get, the more I like them! I’m not really a baby person so it’s sad to think she’s off here in just a few months! Maybe it’s better for me that it’s only 1/2 day kindergarten here (which truthfully I consider a waste) so I can ease into it. Ahhh, my baby, all grown up. (Not quite, but well on her way if you ask her.) Thank you Learning Dynamics and Mrs. York for making her first school experience such a great one!

Dinner camping . . . in the backyard.

So we planned to up to the lake in the canyon and have dinner and roast marshmallows and all sorts of fun stuff, but both of our cars broke down this weekend and we couldn’t go anywhere! So . . . we improvised. We set up the girls’ tent in the backyard, BBQd, had pink marshmallows (because that is the color of choice at our house) and had a blast. We left the tent out overnight so the girls could play in it the next day but unfortunately . . . IT SNOWED! Seriously. I’ve heard it said “If you don’t like the weather in Idaho/Utah/Maryland . . . just wait 5 minutes.” So I have a couple questions: 1) What if I do like the weather! 2) Where can I go to enjoy stable enjoyable weather?! Oh well, pretty funny. Fun dinner though. :o)

Timp Caves . . . kinda

We tried for the Caves hike again and made it halfway. So fun and so pretty with SUCH a drastic drop off. I’m pretty sure we need to get El a leash since the week after we went 2 people fell off, 1 died and the other injured. Yikes!
